Emerging Technology Risk Manager
We are looking for an accomplished professional to lead strategic initiatives in innovation and technology risk within the financial services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the risks and opportunities arising from emerging technologies and complex business models, including those involving payments, banking, and digital assets.
This role requires a combination of strong analytical capability, deep industry knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders across business, technology, and risk disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and provide insight on technology and innovation-related risks across financial institutions and fintech ecosystems.
- Lead the development of frameworks and best practices for managing risks associated with new and evolving technologies.
- Provide expert analysis on topics such as blockchain, digital assets, and distributed ledger technology.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate fintech business models and propose effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct independent research and analysis on emerging innovation and technology trends in financial services.
- Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations, and presentations for senior management.
- Support the design and implementation of strategic initiatives related to technology risk and innovation.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
- University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
- Continuing professional education or industry certifications (e.g. CA, CFA, FRM, PRM) would be considered a plus.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management, compliance, innovation strategy, or technology governance within financial services or fintech.
- Proven experience engaging with senior executives, boards, or cross-functional leadership teams.
- Background in payments, banking, fintech, or digital assets preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Deep understanding of risk management principles and how they apply to innovative financial technologies.
- Strong knowledge of financial services operations, products, and technology-driven business models.
- Familiarity with emerging risk trends, such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, and blockchain applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues into actionable insights.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to senior leadership.
- Collaborative and adaptable team player who thrives in dynamic environments.
- Professional, ethical, and proactive, with strong time management and stakeholder engagement skills.
