Senior Backup & Storage Engineer
Role Overview: The Senior Backup & Storage Engineer is responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing enterprise storage and backup solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role ensures the integrity, availability, and recoverability of critical data. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to design and support robust disaster recovery and resilience strategies.
- Provisioning & Operations: Oversee provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of datacentre hardware, backup appliances, storage arrays, and software platforms.
- System Administration: Manage and administer enterprise solutions such as LDAP, IBM Cloud, and Unix-based systems.
- Technical Research: Participate in the evaluation and integration of new technologies, driving continual innovation and efficiency improvements.
- Project Participation: Support seamless project transitions by performing operational activities throughout the project lifecycle and ensuring operational readiness.
- Documentation & CMDB: Maintain comprehensive configuration and asset records and contribute to architecture and reference configuration definition.
- Decommissioning & Data Migration: Coordinate decommissioning activities, ensuring secure data migration and hardware lifecycle management.
- Collaboration: Work directly with internal teams and external stakeholders, actively contributing to quality service delivery within a multinational environment.
Fluency in English is required. French language skills are an asset.
We are looking for candidates who embody a strong blend of technical mastery and strategic vision within the Backup & Storage domain. The ideal person is passionate about ensuring data integrity and reliability, thriving in complex, enterprise-level environments, and equipped with at least a decade of hands-on experience in large-scale backup and storage operations.
- Technically Proficient: Deep expertise in Backup & Storage systems, especially across hybrid and cloud infrastructures, with substantial working knowledge of LDAP Administration, IBM Cloud, and Unix Administration.
- Analytical & Innovative: Capable of high-level architectural thinking, proactive in researching and adopting new technologies, and adept at proposing robust and secure configurations.
- Structured & Methodical: Approaches challenges with clear process orientation, always attentive to maintaining an overview amidst complexity, and skilled at documentation and reference configuration definition.
- Strong Communicator & Collaborator: Possesses excellent communication skills in English (B2 or higher), with French as a valued benefit, able to explain complex topics to diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively with cross-functional, multinational teams.
- Self-Directed & Reliable: Demonstrates autonomy and exemplary time management, known for taking initiative and delivering consistent, quality results independently.
- Adaptable & Eager to Learn: Shows willingness and capacity to rapidly assimilate new technology trends through self-study and professional development.
- Customer-Focused: Committed to supporting internal and external clients by ensuring service reliability and actively seeking to improve user satisfaction through resilient infrastructure solutions.
Preferred candidates also hold a university degree or have attained a comparable level of expertise through professional experience and training.
