Job Description

For one of my client, I am looking for an Associate specialising in Employment Law to join their international law firm based in Brussels. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex employment law matters, covering both domestic and cross-border employment issues. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and leading clients, providing strategic advice and innovative solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include drafting legal memoranda, negotiating contracts, representing clients in litigation, and advising businesses on compliance and human resources management matters. This position combines intellectual rigour with practical client service in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on employment law matters, including employment contracts, dismissals, restructurings and wage-related disputes
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts, confidentiality agreements and other employment-related legal documents
  • Represent clients before labour courts and relevant administrative authorities
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on Belgian employment legislation
  • Prepare employment law compliance assessments and audits
  • Collaborate with partners and other team members on multi-jurisdictional matters
  • Keep up to date with legislative and case law developments in employment law

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates with a strong legal background, practical experience in employment law and a proven ability to work in an international environment. Your approach should combine strong analytical skills, a client-oriented mindset and the ability to manage several complex matters simultaneously. We value candidates who demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to deepen their expertise in employment law.

Experience & Expertise Required:

  • First experience in employment law
  • Strong knowledge (or strong interest) of Belgian employment legislation
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating employment-related legal documents
  • Experience representing clients in labour disputes and administrative proceedings
  • Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional employment law matters
  • Professional proficiency of English and French
