For one of our partners in the financial services sector, located in Antwerp and Brussels, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing legal support across various business operations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and managing legal risks. You will play a crucial role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, offering legal advice on corporate governance, and managing dispute resolution. Your expertise will contribute to the overall risk management framework of the organization, while collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, compliance, and contracts
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements
  • Ensure legal compliance with local and international regulations
  • Assist in managing disputes and liaise with external legal advisors when needed
  • Conduct legal research and provide insights on evolving legal trends and regulations
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions from a legal perspective
  • Advise the company on data protection, intellectual property, and employment law
  • Prepare and deliver legal training to internal stakeholders
  • Monitor and report on changes in relevant laws and regulations


Your Profile as a Legal Counsel:

  • You are a proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented professional
  • You possess excellent communication skills and can provide clear legal advice to various stakeholders
  • You have experience in corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
  • You are familiar with key legal areas such as data protection, IP, and employment law
  • You are fluent in both Dutch and French, with a good command of English
  • You have a law degree and at least 3-5 years’ experience as a legal counsel or in a similar legal role
  • You are a member of the Belgian Bar (or willing to become one)
  • You have strong negotiation skills and are comfortable with legal drafting
