SAP Data Migration and Synchronization Architect

This senior role centers on steering all aspects of data migration and synchronization for the organization’s transition from SAP Business Suite to SAP S/4HANA and satellite SAP solutions including BTP, Ariba, SuccessFactors, Intelligent Business Planning, Intelligent Asset Management, Cloud-for-Customer, and Customer Data Cloud.

  • Coordinate the analytical and technical efforts required to prepare and migrate data in SAP Business Suite and integrated platforms (such as SuccessFactors, Ariba, FI-CA, CRM) to the new S/4HANA environment.
  • Collaborate with Domain Architects, Business Area Leads, and technical and functional teams to ensure readiness of data for ERP transition.
  • Lead and validate data cleansing and quality initiatives, working closely with SAP teams and business units to secure optimal data integrity.
  • Assess and validate the data migration and synchronization strategy proposed by System Implementation Partners, providing reporting and technical insight to program leadership.
  • Oversee and validate the execution of data migration tasks by internal teams and external System Integrators, ensuring processes adhere to the planned approach and standards.
  • Coordinate data synchronization between SAP systems and legacy applications, ensuring smooth operation of key interfaces and data extractors.
  • Document lessons learned and provide knowledge transfer to optimize future migration projects and organizational learning.
  • Collaborate with System Implementation Partners to manage and execute structured data loads throughout the S/4HANA migration process.
  • Post-migration, work with SAP Data Governance Architect to maintain robust data governance and ongoing data management in the S/4HANA landscape.

Scope includes data warehousing, project planning and scheduling, data governance, and stakeholder management. Working knowledge of English and French is required; Dutch is advantageous.

We are looking for candidates who combine deep technical expertise with a collaborative and strategic mindset. These individuals excel in orchestrating complex SAP data migrations and have demonstrated leadership in driving successful transition projects on an international scale.

  • Extensive Experience: A track record of at least 8 years in SAP projects, including significant exposure to data management, governance, and data migrations—especially moving from SAP Business Suite to SAP S/4HANA or integrated satellite solutions (e.g., BTP, Ariba, SuccessFactors).
  • Migration Expertise: At least 5 years hands-on experience with large-scale SAP data migrations, with a nuanced understanding of the technical and business implications of data movement and synchronization across hybrid and cloud landscapes.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to assess and validate complex migration plans, spot risks, and propose robust solutions for data quality, integrity, and seamless synchronization between systems.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Adept at coordinating and motivating cross-functional teams—business, functional, and technical—ensuring open communication and shared ownership throughout major transformation projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled in building trusted relationships with domain architects, business area leaders, and implementation partners. Able to report clearly and confidently to program leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Organizational Learning: Committed to capturing lessons learned and instilling best practices, ensuring continuous improvement for future migrations.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Brings a proactive approach to leveraging new SAP technologies (such as S/4HANA, BTP, Ariba, SuccessFactors) and industry standards to optimize outcomes.
  • Multilingual Communication: Comfortable operating in a multilingual environment; demonstrates fluency in English and French, and a solid command of Dutch to ensure effective cooperation with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Structured and Diligent: Approaches challenges methodically, paying close attention to detail while never losing sight of the overall program objectives and timelines.
  • Resilient and Adaptable: Thrives in fast-paced, complex environments, remaining composed under pressure, and adapting quickly to evolving priorities.
