Senior Accountant (FR or NL)
Gentis seeks a Senior Accountant adept in either French or Dutch to independently manage a portfolio of companies, ranging from holding entities to real estate and operational businesses. This position covers the full spectrum of accounting operations and oversight in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Full-cycle accounting responsibility for assigned company portfolio, managing general ledger entries and end-to-end processes.
- Bank reconciliations and financial matching to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Execution and supervision of diverse accounting tasks, including HR-related entries, administration of intercompany loans, and miscellaneous operations.
- Preparation and filing of VAT declarations in accordance with Belgian tax regulations.
- Oversight and process management for year-end closing entries, such as forming and maintaining depreciation schedules.
- Drafting and submission of corporate tax returns, ensuring precise compliance with applicable fiscal requirements.
- Consolidation of accounts across group companies, providing a comprehensive overview of financial health and performance.
- Handling VAT and corporate tax audits, coordinating with tax authorities, and managing responses to inspection and inquiries.
- Upholding compliance with Belgian GAAP (BEGAAP) throughout all financial reporting and accounting procedures.
- Swift adaptation to Odoo software and other digital tools relevant to accounting operations.
The Senior Accountant ensures adherence to internal controls, statutory guidelines, and group policies while balancing multiple priorities for diverse business entities in Belgium.

- Strong communicator: You articulate complex information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to colleagues, management, and external partners—fluency in either French or Dutch is essential.
- Analytical and organized: You swiftly analyze accounting information and synthesize findings, managing the consolidation of financial statements across group companies.
- Proven expertise in compliance: You have substantial experience with Belgian accounting standards, VAT, corporate tax, and related regulatory frameworks, and demonstrate confidence in managing audits and responses to authorities.
- Relationship builder: You approach interactions with a collaborative mindset, fostering productive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
The preferred background includes a degree in accounting, at least five years in a fiduciary or accounting firm, and robust experience with Belgian financial, tax, and compliance requirements. Adaptability to new technologies and a positive, can-do mindset are vital to success in this role.
