Junior Legal Counsel
General Purpose of the Role:
The role involves providing legal advice upon request, primarily related to insurance activities but also encompassing any legal matters directly or indirectly connected to the business. The aim is to resolve legal issues and ensure compliance with legislative developments, including new laws, emerging legal matters, and the launch of new products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze all legal aspects relevant to the company’s operations, including insurance law, contract law, corporate law.
- Oversee the company’s legal secretariat (organizing board meetings and general assemblies, drafting minutes, handling official publications, legal memos, etc.).
- Provide legal advice to internal departments on matters within the Legal Department’s scope.
- Conduct legal research on various topics.
- Manage all litigation files (excluding labor law cases) in coordination with the company’s external legal counsel.
- Report regularly to the Head of Legal.
- Participate in internal, national, or international working groups set up by the company or headquarters, and attend ongoing legal training.
- Contribute to the development of new insurance products.
- Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, regulatory obligations, ethics, data privacy, and medical confidentiality.
Human and Collaborative Skills:
- Actively engage in continuous legal training in coordination with the company’s training program.
- Foster and maintain effective collaboration with other departments and group entities.
Profile Requirements:
- Legal or business law background, with 1 to 3 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrates high levels of accuracy, confidentiality, and reliability.
- Capable of initiating and planning legal procedures independently, while keeping the manager informed and escalating complex or sensitive issues.
- Able to perform under pressure and deliver timely legal analysis.
- Fluent in French and/or Dutch, and English.
- Strong analytical skills, results-driven mindset, initiative, and team spirit, essential in a rapidly changing legal and regulatory environment.
