Senior Business Analyst – Banking Transactions in a mission-critical context, specializing in analyzing and improving banking transaction operations within the Belgian market. This position requires acting as a strategic interface between business stakeholders and project management, aligning business needs with IT deliverables.
- Identify and analyze business needs in banking transactions, staying updated on market trends and competition.
- Propose enhancements for products and services to optimize operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Draft comprehensive business requirements and define acceptance criteria for new initiatives and changes.
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and project teams, ensuring clear business & IT alignment.
- Define business scope, target operating models, and both business and IT interfaces for projects.
- Utilize in-depth expertise in banking transactions and strong understanding of the Belgian banking landscape.
- Conduct business modeling and budget analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Apply strategic thinking and requirements gathering techniques for effective project delivery.
- Engage in stakeholder management, negotiating and aligning diverse interests.
The role is divided between on-site presence and homeworking. Effective communication in Dutch (good spoken), French (strong spoken), and English (strong written and spoken) is required. A Master’s degree in Business Management or equivalent experience is expected, as well as significant experience in business analysis and expert knowledge of technical and business aspects of banking transactions.
We are looking for candidates who combine deep banking transaction expertise with the analytical rigor and strategic mindset required to drive impactful business analysis within a complex financial environment. The ideal person excels at understanding both current industry trends and the evolving landscape of banking in Belgium, drawing upon thorough knowledge of key players, regulations, and best practices.
- Educational Background: Holds a Master’s degree in Business Management or possesses equivalent advanced experience within financial services.
- Professional Experience: Has a solid track record of at least six years in business analysis, with demonstrated expertise in banking transactions / SEPA / Cards and requirements definition. Familiarity with technical aspects of banking is mandatory; exposure to digital banking or banking law is an advantage.
- Communication Skills: Communicates convincingly and clearly—in Dutch with good spoken proficiency, and with strong spoken French and both written and spoken English. Able to adapt communication style to different stakeholders, including senior management.
- Interpersonal Attributes: Skilled at stakeholder management, negotiation, and persuasion. Maintains an open, collaborative approach and is comfortable serving as a bridge between business and IT.
- Analytical Capabilities: Possesses strong conceptual and analytical thinking, with a structured and critical mindset. Thorough in business modeling, budget analysis, and strategic thinking, with an ability to synthesize complex ideas and business requirements.
- Work Ethic: Demonstrates independence, reliability, and a goal-oriented, quality-driven mentality. Is solution-focused, detail-oriented, and thrives on delivering high-value outcomes under changing conditions.
- Attitude: Exhibits a can-do spirit, readiness to embrace new challenges, and adaptability to evolving business contexts. Values teamwork while also being effective in autonomous settings.
