Virtualisation Specialist

As a Virtualization Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualization environments using both VMware and Citrix XenServer. You will play a key role in migrating virtual machines between these platforms and ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our virtual infrastructure. Your expertise will be essential in optimizing our virtualization strategy and supporting our business objectives.Key Responsibilities:Design, deploy, and manage virtualization environments using VMware and Citrix XenServer.Plan and execute the migration of virtual machines between VMware and Citrix XenServer, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.Assess current virtualization infrastructure and develop comprehensive migration strategies and plans.Configure, install, and maintain VMware and Citrix XenServer environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.Perform pre-migration testing and validation to identify and resolve potential issues.Monitor and troubleshoot virtualization performance issues, providing proactive solutions to ensure system stability.Document virtualization processes, configurations, and procedures for future reference and compliance.Collaborate with IT and network teams to ensure seamless integration and connectivity of virtualized environments.Provide training and support to IT staff on best practices and troubleshooting techniques for both VMware and Citrix XenServer.Stay up-to-date with the latest virtualization technologies and trends to continuously improve our infrastructure.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Proven experience in designing, managing, and migrating virtual machines using both VMware and Citrix XenServer.Strong knowledge of VMware and Citrix XenServer virtualization technologies and tools.Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex virtualization issues.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Experience with CITRIX Netscaler is an assetAbility to develop bash and powershell scriptsSolid background in adminsitering Windows ServersExperience in administering Linux Servers is a plusExperience deploying and managing cloud resources will be an asset (Azure or GCP)Relevant certifications (e.g., Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V), VMware Certified Professional (VCP)) are a plus.

Senior EI&C Engineer – Data Center ProjectsLocation: Belgium (Brussels-based) with occasional travel to the UK and Europe (1 day per month)Contract Type: Freelance / Consultancy (20-week initial contract, with possible extension)Industry: Engineering Consultancy – Data Centers1. About the ProjectWe are looking for a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (EI&C) Engineer to join a high-profile Data Center design and engineering project in Europe. The project is part of a large-scale multi-data center construction program across Europe, following a “design one, build many” approach.The selected engineer will play a key role in designing, specifying, and integrating EI&C systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and European regulations.The project is currently in the design and feasibility phase, requiring an experienced engineer to contribute to technical specifications, supplier evaluations, and system integration.2. Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design:Develop EI&C system designs for data centers, covering power distribution, control, instrumentation, and automation.Work on BMS (Building Management Systems), SCADA, and critical monitoring systems.Ensure compliance with BS, IEC, and local European regulations.Define and implement communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, SNMP) for system integration.Project Execution & Coordination:Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure seamless design implementation.Lead discussions with suppliers and contractors to validate technical requirements.Support Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes.Assist in the validation, testing, and commissioning of EI&C installations.Client & Stakeholder Interaction:Represent the company in technical meetings with clients and partners.Provide guidance and technical input for contractors and project teams.Ensure project timelines, budgets, and technical specifications are met.Compliance & Quality Assurance:Oversee design validation and specification reviews.Ensure adherence to international engineering best practices.Support the development of quality control procedures for project execution.3. Required Skills & ExperienceEducation & Qualifications:BEng / MSc in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Instrumentation.Chartered Engineer (or working towards it) is a plus.Technical Expertise:Experience in designing and implementing EI&C systems in critical infrastructure (Data Centers, Energy, Pharma, or similar).Knowledge of BMS, SCADA, and PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Tridium Niagara).Strong understanding of power distribution, UPS systems, and backup generators.Familiarity with DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) software.Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP).Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and electrical safety codes.Project & Management Skills:Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and vendors.Experience with RFI/RFQ preparation and supplier negotiations.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Ability to manage technical documentation and compliance requirements.Soft Skills & Language Requirements:Fluent English (spoken and written) – must be comfortable working in an English-speaking environment.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Comfortable in client-facing roles and technical discussions.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Mobility & Availability:Based in Belgium with availability for periodic travel to the UK (potentially 1-2 days every 2 weeks).Must be available to start ASAP and commit to the 20-week contract (with possible extension).4.
